Vạn-Xuân is a custom designed deck of playing cards based on Vietnamese history and culture. I ran a successful 30-day Kickstarter campaign from June 15 to July 16, 2020 that raised $17,256, which is 192% of the original $9,000 funding goal, with the support of more than 300 backers worldwide. Pledges were fulfilled in January 2021. Production included 1200+ decks, 1000+ accordion booklets, 250+ art prints, 25 art books, and 150 tin boxes. You can read more about the project on Kickstarter.
I was inspired to create a complete deck and fulfill a childhood dream after my illustration for a Vietnamese Queen of Hearts was chosen by a panel from 170+ submissions for the international group exhibit House of Cards by OGE Group. My illustration was 1 of 20 designs representing the city of Houston, Texas at outdoor public space Discovery Green. At night the art installation was lit and synced to music. The show was on display from August 28 to October 11, 2020.
